IX World Congress on South American Camelids
The city of Arequipa was the scene of one of the most important technical-scientific and business events globally linked to the alpaca, llama, vicuña, and other South American camelid sectors, bringing together more than 1,000 national and international participants including researchers, producers, businesspeople, authorities, professionals, students, and representatives of cooperation agencies.
The IX World Congress of South American Camelids was held from May 12 to 14 and was organized by MIDAGRI, ASCALPE, and the Regional Government of Arequipa, and the International Alpaca Association as co-organizer was part of this important event.
During the Congress, more than 25 keynote lectures, 60 oral presentations, 200 scientific poster presentations, 4 specialized panels, 2 round tables, and 2 technical workshops were held. In addition, the event leaves as a result a platform for technical and scientific cooperation with international reach, as well as new opportunities for the strengthening of high-Andean producers and the sustainable development of the sector.
